On October 15, Sampaio made her runway debut in New York, donning a massive bow with six distinct D-loops striped in black and copper. Her psychologist recognized her as transgender when she was eight years old, but she didn’t start going by Valentina until she was twelve. She has stated repeatedly in interviews that she did not experience bullying because of her gender identity.

Valentina Sampaio career
Because of her identification as transgender, Valentina Sampaio was sacked from her first modelling job in 2014 by a clothing firm. The company, whose identity she has not revealed, informed her that the brand was conservative and that its clientele would not be open to a transgender model, even though she was due to be in one of their advertising campaigns.
She overcame this obstacle early in her career to travel from her native state of Ceara to Rio de Janeiro for her first acting role in an indie film that screened at Sao Paulo Fashion Week. Sampaio made history in February 2017 when she became the first transgender model to be on the cover of Vogue Paris, garnering attention from the global press.
Sampaio became the first openly transgender Victoria’s Secret model when she announced on her Instagram account on August 2, 2019 that she was affiliated with the brand PINK. Sampaio was engaged by VS PINK for a catalogue photo shoot that was scheduled to be released in August 2019, according to her agent.
Sampaio made history in 2020 by being the first transgender model to feature in Sports Illustrated. She was appointed an Armani Beauty Ambassador at the end of 2021.
Sampaio and Alex Consani made history on October 15, 2024, when they walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show as the first two transgender models.
