Anniversary gifts are a little different when two actors are married to each other. Melissa McCarthy and Ben Falcone, who have been married for nearly 20 years, are one of Hollywood’s funniest and most beloved couples — and on Monday night’s (Oct. 28) episode of Watch What Happens Live, Falcone revealed the best anniversary gift he ever gave his wife.
“On our anniversary, in one of our movies, we were working and she was making out with a very good-looking, younger guy and I said, ‘Hey,’ — and I felt terrible about it — but I was like, ‘You should probably grab his butt. I think it would work,’” the actor told host Andy Cohen.
McCarthy then added, “And I was like, ‘Happy anniversary, honey!’”
Not only are they married, but the duo has worked together on multiple film and television projects, including hits like Bridesmaids, The Boss and Spy. According to Falcone, the best part about working with McCarthy is the “relentless, insane amount of creativity” she brings to the table.
Falcone even revealed the key to their successful marriage.
“People say, ‘Don’t go to bed mad.’ I say, ‘Fuck it, go to bed mad. It’s fine,’” he joked. “You forget what the hell you were fighting about in the first place. I guarantee it works. I promise.”
Despite their long-standing marriage, they’re still learning things about each other. While appearing on WWHL, McCarthy surprised Falcone when she explained her most irrational fear.
“I take a bath every day of my life. And when I take bath salts out of this box I have, I always put the lid under it because I’m afraid that if I ever drop any grains of bath salts, my dogs are gonna eat them, they’ll go crazy, and then they’ll eat my face in the night,” she said. “And I do this every day.”
Shocked, Falcone replied, “Oh, my God. That’s so fucked up.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
