The video of Sebastian Zapeta of Guatemala setting a woman on fire inside the NYC subway has gone viral
A woman was burned alive in a horrifying event on the New York City subway on Sunday morning, and a suspect named Sebastian Zapeta has been taken into custody in relation to the crime.
A sleeping woman on a Coney Island F train was allegedly set on fire by the man, who is said to be Sebastian Zapeta.
An unsettling video of the incident went viral, capturing the startling moment Sebastian Zapeta threw a lit match over the woman and watched as she caught fire.

Zapeta has only been detained and no charges have been pressed on him, as yet after the incident of burning the woman happened at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday and the shocking video soon went viral on social media. The incident took place in a subway train in Brooklyn, New York at the Stillwell Avenue Subway station in Coney Island.
The individual, who was described as a Christian Hispanic Guatemalan immigrant, had travelled through Arizona to reach the United States in 2018. His immigration status is still being determined by authorities with it unsure if age 33 Sebastian Zapeta entered the US from Guatemala legally or illegally.

Although the culprit left the scene, he was apprehended shortly after. According to police, he had no past criminal history in New York City and did not know the victim. According to the New York Post, he was discovered on another train, still sporting the grey hoodie and paint-splattered trousers from the assault.
When a train passenger observed Zapeta at 34th Street in Manhattan, the New York Police Department (NYPD) began a manhunt for him, which ultimately resulted in his arrest. The cops were able to find him after the passenger alerted them. Although Zapeta has been taken into custody, the inquiry is still underway and no formal charges have been brought.
Sources from The New York Post claim that when Zapeta was arrested, a lighter was discovered in his possession. At a press conference the NYPD has set at Police Plaza at 1 pm local time, more information regarding Zapeta’s background is anticipated to be disclosed.
Officers responded to complaints of a fire at the Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue subway station at 7:30 am, which is when the unfortunate incident occurred. They discovered the woman sitting on the idle F train, surrounded by bottles of vodka, and engulfed in flames. The woman was declared dead at the site, but emergency personnel were able to put out the fire.

The startling incident happened when NYPD officers saw smoke coming from a subway car while on a regular patrol at a Brooklyn stop. According to NYPD Det. Austin Glickman, the victim was engulfed in flames as they conducted their investigation.
