Texas Tech’s CJ Baskerville rips Arkansas’ Fernando Carmona for ‘dirty’ act

It looks like a Suh-esque stomp, and it’s got the internet up in arms.

After video surfaced of an Arkansas Razorbacks offensive lineman stepping on top of a Texas Tech cornerback lying on the ground, college football fans want to see him “banned forever.”

It’s not clear if Fernando Carmona, the Razorbacks’ redshirt junior lineman, is stepping onto the ankle of CJ Baskerville with intent, though the Red Raiders’ cornerback certainly thinks so.

“There’s no denying that Arkansas played a great game last night, I am not taking that away from them,” Baskerville wrote in a post on X that featured two angles of the incident. “But #55 Fernando Carmona blatantly stepping on my ankle and pressing down on it on purpose is straight up dirty. Proceeds to say ‘got your b**** a***.’ Do better.”

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter of Friday’s Liberty Bowl game — the Razorbacks had just run the ball up the middle of the field and Baskerville had stepped up to make the stop.

He was still lying on the ground when Carmona’s foot came down on his ankle.

Baskerville’s post of the supposed stomp has been viewed by nearly four million X users as of Sunday.

“We should demand that this Pig/Thug be banned from football,” one user wrote. “Let’s amplify this!”

“Looks more like he’s walking around trying to get to his RB, which he almost stepped on as well,” noted another.

“Trashy move on his part. A guy like that always has their day,” opined a third.

A number of users went after Baskerville, including one who wrote, “Looks like he was right. So soft. I’ve never in my life seen a major conference football player run to social media to post like this after getting drilled.”

The altercation seems to be getting nearly as much traction as the Liberty Bowl itself, which Arkansas won by a score of 39-26.

The Razorbacks were led by junior quarterback Taylen Green, who tossed two touchdowns and 341 yards on just 11 completions. Green added another touchdown and 81 more yards on the ground.

Arkansas finished with 559 yards to Texas Tech’s 497.

With Friday’s win the Razorbacks improved to 29-8 against the Red Raiders all time.
