Influencer Victoria Rose, also known as Woah Vicky, confessed to faking her own kidnapping simply because she was “bored.”

Rose initially sparked speculation that something sinister had happened to her on Dec. 29 after a message on her X account claimed she had been taken.

“I have kidnapped Vicky,” the since-deleted messages read. “She is with me in Nigeria. I am demanding $1 million for her release.”

After her tweet went viral, the 24-year-old took to Instagram Live later that same day to admit to her 3.7 million followers that the whole thing was a “joke” she “got carried away with.”

“I don’t drink or go to the club, so this is how I find my entertainment,” she explained. “You know, it’s probably not the best way to do it … Sometimes, you want to have a little fun.”

Rose went on to tell her followers that she had been “wanting to laugh” and found the whole situation “funny.”

“We all struggle in different areas. So I’m not saying this was the right thing to do,” she said. “But I take accountability and ownership. I’m sorry for anyone that I harmed in the process.”

The social media personality continued her apology tour on Monday, saying she was sorry to “anyone [she] may have harmed” with her “prank” in a lengthy X message.

“Not thinking things through comes with consequences, and I’m paying for it now,” she began before apologizing “for how this situation reflects” on her.

“I never intended to make any Black man or any country, especially Nigeria, look bad,” she continued. “If it came across that way, I’m truly sorry. I love Nigeria.”

Talking about her Instagram Live, she said, “Those videos you’ve seen of me trying to explain myself are from that moment. I’ve learned a lot from this, and I’ll be taking time off the internet to reflect, fast, and grow closer to God. Please keep me in your prayers. God bless.”

In her message, Rose seemingly blamed the “prank” on her brother and father, claiming that her sibling “suggested” she make the kidnapping claims on X.

“In hindsight, it was a terrible idea,” she admitted. “We weren’t thinking at all. It quickly became clear how bad this was when [her dad’s] friends started calling him, concerned. That’s when we decided to go live and explain that it was all fake.”

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Rose brushed the whole situation off when she posted a video of her seemingly getting engaged to Aboki Tor Jar –– who also has a significant following with one million users.

The video showed Jar getting down on one knee while Rose held out her hand.

“NOW AND FOREVER MY OPUEH🥺❤️ 2025❤️😍💍,” they captioned the joint Instagram Reel.

Hundreds of fans, however, took to the comment section to question the legitimacy of the engagement.

One person wrote, “This is the fakest thing I’ve seen all 2024 lol,” while another commented, “Another scam.”
