Hoda Kotb has just a week left on The Today Show before she retires Jan. 10, which means Jenna Bush Hager is rushing to impart all of her dating wisdom before her co-host leaves the air.
Bush Hager wasted no time at all during the Jan. 3 broadcast of Today to ask her co-host if her New Year’s resolution was to date more often. Kotb agreed, admitting, “I don’t want to make it a resolution but I think I will make room for it.”
And Kotb certainly has her pick to choose from. Bush Hager offered her some fashion advice for when she eventually goes on a date with Lenny Kravitz or Kevin Costner, both of whom recently appeared on Today With Hoda & Jenna this year.
“If you’re going out with Lenny K, then you put on some leather,” she explained. If Kotb were to go out with Costner, Bush Hager added, she should “go cowboy” and wear something that’s “a little midriff-y.”
“But not enough that your Spanx hangs out, you wanna keep that Spanx hidden,” she advised. Kotb could not hold back her laughter as Bush Hager warned, “Actually, don’t wear Spanx on a first date. Just in case.” Kotb’s eyes went wide at Bush Hager’s remark.
But Bush Hager continued, “It’s true, take those Spanx off. I know you wear them every day, do not wear them when Kevin Costner asks you out.”
She then said she felt like she has to leave Kotb with all of her “wisdom” not that they only have a week together left.
Kotb is set to retire from Today With Hoda & Jenna and The Today Show next Friday, Jan. 10, marking the end of almost 30 years at NBC. Her final day on the show will be one big “Hoda-bration” where the co-hosts will be joined by a live studio audience.
After Kotb’s exit in January, the fourth hour of Today will be rebranded into Today With Jenna & Friends, with a rotating panel of guest hosts joining her on the show.
As for her New Year’s resolutions, Bush Hager said she is just going to “try to survive” this year, as many changes are coming down the pipeline. “This year, I’m just holding on to the roller coaster and going with the waves,” she told Kotb.
