Banerji had graduated from Punjab Technical University with a B.Tech in computer science in 2002 and had completed his schooling at Gyan Bharati. His areas of expertise included real estate economics, asset management, and negotiations, according to his LinkedIn profile. While his exact net worth isn’t known, as of August 2024, Banerji held a 21.55% stake in the company, which was valued at INR 3,162.1 crore (approximately £320 million).
His unrealized share was estimated at INR 866.8 crore (around £87 million), in addition to INR 90 crore (around £9 million) realized from his holdings. The sudden passing of Banerji followed a troubling trend in the startup community, where several leaders had died prematurely. Just weeks before, Rohan Mirchandani, the founder of Drums Food International, had passed away at the age of 42 on December 21.
