A Las Vegas man allegedly shot his ex-wife and killed her new girlfriend in a fit of jealous rage last week after his ex told him she was done with him.
Adrian Rodriguez-Guillen, 41, had told the on-again, off-again couple that he was going to “kill them and send them to hell” months earlier, according 8 News Now.
Hefollowed through on that brutal promise Jan. 3, when the jilted lover blocked in the girlfriend, 40-year-old Adriana Herrera, as she went to pick up Rodriguez-Guillen’s unidentified ex at about 4:45 p.m. that day — and allegedly shot her to death.
Rodriguez-Guillen had hidden his own car behind a neighbor’s truck so the women couldn’t see them, the outlet said.
When Herrera arrived, he sped in front of her Hyundai so they couldn’t leave — but Herrera backed up and took off.
Rodriguez-Guillen followed the pair, cut Herrera off when she stopped in traffic and got out of his car with a rifle in-hand, the outlet said.
Herrera opened her door to confront Rodriguez-Guillen, and that’s when he allegedly walked up, squeezed off three rounds and grievously wounded her.
Rodriguez-Guillen’s wife grabbed her lover and held her close, but Rodriguez-Guillen told her to move and shot Herrera in the face, the outlet said.
Then he pulled a handgun and made like he was going to shoot himself — until he saw one of the bullets had passed through Herrera and hit his ex in the hip.
He started apologizing, then called the cops and told them he’d shot someone around Sacks and Blanton drives in the east Las Vegas valley.
Cops arrested Rodriguez-Guillen and pronounced Herrera — who’d been shot in the body and head — dead at the scene, the outlet said.
Paramedics brought Rodriguez-Guillen’s ex to the hospital, where she told authorities that she and Rodriguez-Guillen had been in a 24-year relationship before their split.
They’d married in 2001, then divorced 12 years later. But the couple — who had seven children together — kept living together and remained romantically involved.
But about 18 months ago, she met Herrera and the two started their own on-again, off-again relationship. The three reportedly worked together at Harry Reid International Airport.
Around two months ago, Rodriguez-Guillen’s wife said she permanently ended her relationship with her ex-husband because she didn’t love him anymore — and started back up with Herrera, the outlet said.
But Rodriguez-Guillen, who was described by his ex as “very jealous and controlling,” didn’t handle the breakup well and told the couple he was going to “kill them and send them to hell.”
He flew into a rage last Friday when his ex told him she planned to hang out with Herrera, and allegedly sprung his trap when Herrera came to pick her up.
The victim reportedly told cops she didn’t think Rodriguez-Guillen meant to shoot her during the ambush.
Rodriguez-Guillen was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, and a judge denied bail Tuesday, according to 3 News.
He’s been charged with open murder with the use of a deadly weapon, attempted murder, kidnapping, burglary and other offenses, the outlet said.
His next court date is Feb. 19.
